The 2011/2012 wheat season saw around 100 000 ha of land sown to wheat The Narrabri Shire, yielding on average 2.5 tonnes per hectare. Much of the wheat sown in the area is of the prime hard variety. Wheat production in the Wee Waa district generates approximately $40 million for the Australian economy and represents 15% of the state's total production.
