The Wee Waa district is home to over 200 000 sheep, the majority being wool producing merinos. merino fleece wool usually averages a micron level of 22. Wool production generated approximately $4 million for the area over the 1996/97 financial period.
Within the district there is also opening for fat lamb production, with sales figures of around $45 per head being not uncommon when the market is favourable.
