Central North Rugby: Sam Kahl joins brother Daniel and father James as Blue Boars centurion

The Northern Daily Leader

Playing 100 games for a club is a special milestone and for Narrabri's James, Daniel and Sam Kahl it is an honour they now all share.

Against Inverell on Saturday, Sam became the latest Blue Boar to inscribe their name on the 100-game honour board.

In doing so he joined his father (and current club president) James (154) and brother Daniel (107*) in the annals of the club's history.

They are the third father and son centurions for the club following Jack (231) and Luke Findley (155*), and Peter (147) and Matt McDonnell (136*).

Daniel reached 100 games last year against Pirates.

John has kindly donated the proceeds of the calendar sales with the aim of caring for the mental health of his community. The funds will be spent specifically in Wee Waa, and Moree based Rural Adversity Mental Health Program - RAMHP Coordinator Letitia Cross will work directly with the community to plan some exciting mental health promotion projects.

Pictured is RAMHP's Program Manager Tessa Caton, John Burgess, and several of the wonderful 'Cotton Country Kids' who feature in the calendar.

PACKING UP THE NATION - Caroline Shenton

Monday 17 August, 2020

This is the gripping and sometimes hilarious story of how a band of heroic curators and eccentric custodians saved Britain’s national heritage during their Darkest Hour. As Hitler’s forces gathered on the other side of the Channel to threaten the UK, men and women from London’s national museums, galleries and archives forged extraordinary plans to evacuate their collections to safety. Utilising country houses from Buckinghamshire to Cumbria, tube tunnels, Welsh mines and Wiltshire quarries, a team of unlikely heroes packed up their greatest treasures in a race against time. It was the sweltering summer of 1939.
